Ringlock is a single-player timing game. This page explains exactly what the app stores, what it sends, and what it never collects.

What Ringlock does not collect

Ringlock does not ask for, collect, or transmit:

There is no account to create, no sign-up, and no password.

The game shows an advertisement only when you ask for one (see Advertising). The ad partner collects some data of its own, described in that section.

What stays on your device

The following are saved on your device only and are never sent anywhere:

Deleting the app removes all of it.

What is sent, and only if you choose a name

Ringlock has an optional global leaderboard. Nothing is sent to it until you set a display name. If you never set one, the app makes no score submissions at all and the game works fully offline.

Once you set a name, the app sends, when you beat your own best score:

DataWhy
The display name you typedSo the leaderboard can show who set the score
The scoreIt is the leaderboard entry
An anonymous identifierSo your entry is updated instead of duplicated

The anonymous identifier is a random value created by Firebase Authentication. It is not linked to you, your device, your Apple ID, or any other app. It exists only so the leaderboard knows which row is yours, and it disappears when you delete the app.

Your display name is public. Anyone who opens the leaderboard can see it. Please do not use your real full name or anything you would not want a stranger to read.

Who processes this data

Leaderboard data is stored by Google Firebase. Scores and names are held in Cloud Firestore in the European Union. The anonymous identifier is issued by Firebase Authentication, which Google operates across its own global infrastructure, so that part may be processed outside the EU. Google acts as our data processor and, as part of delivering the request, processes your IP address. See Google's privacy policy.

The only other party that receives data from Ringlock is Google AdMob, described below.

Advertising

After a miss, the game offers to let you continue the round if you watch a short video advertisement. Ads are only shown when you tap to continue. Tapping anywhere else starts a new round instead, and the game never shows an ad on its own.

Ads are provided by Google AdMob. To show and measure an ad and to prevent ad fraud, Google's software in the app collects data such as:

Ringlock does not receive this data and does not combine it with the leaderboard. Because the app never asks for tracking permission, the ads are not based on your activity in other companies' apps and websites.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent through Google's consent screen before any ad is requested, and a Privacy Settings link in the lobby lets you change your choice at any time. If an ad cannot be shown for any reason, you can still continue the round.

How long it is kept

Daily leaderboard entries are kept for the day they belong to. All-time entries are kept until you ask us to remove them.

Your choices

Offensive names

Display names are filtered automatically and are restricted to letters, digits and spaces. If you see a name that should not be there, contact us and it will be removed.

Children

Ringlock is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Because the only information that can reach us is a name someone types, please supervise what a child enters.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
